Reading the above link should put our previous blog posting into context, highlighting:

  1. The idiocy of planners arguing that we are not permitted to reduce carbon emissions by installing triple glazed windows for fear that the windows might look ever so slightly different to an 18th or 19th century window.
  2. The urgent need for the British Government to stop supporting the fossil fuel industry, and start taking really meaningful action to cut UK carbon emissions, and in particular, the need for the UK Government to enthusiastically adopt our country's legally-binding carbon emission reduction targets; attempting to save the environment and creating thousands of sustainable, long term jobs.
  3. The urgent need for the Royal Institute of British Architects to develop architectural education and continuing professional development systems that succeed in producing the skills needed to meet the urgent need for buildings to deliver massive energy and carbon reduction targets in actual use

Still need persuading about the urgent need for action? Read: http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2012/07/25/582891/william-debuys-the-west-in-flames/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+climateprogress%2FlCrX+%28Climate+Progress%29
