The growth in retrofit and refurbishment within the construction sector is set to continue for some time.  The need for efficiency, carbon reduction, and limited capital availability are all driving growth in the area.  In this Constructing Excellence Seminar to be held in Reading we look at how some organisations are dealing with these challenges:

04.11.11

Facilitated by Robert Prewett, prewett bizley architects and Fran Bradshaw, Anne Thorne Architects, this workshop focuses on the key principles of delivering a successful retrofit project:

- Carbon awareness and understanding the carbon profile of a house

- The fabric first approach

- Thermal comfort, approach to thermal bridges and airtightness

- Costs: Identifying optimum initiatives depending on budget

- Air tightness, ventilation and moisture

- Avoiding pitfalls: building defects, mould, underperformance and poor internal comfort.

26.10.11
