Justin Bere of bere:architects is offering an opportunity to learn about German techniques for fitting triple glazed passivhaus windows including positioning the windows to avoid cold bridging in an externally insulated building; fitting air tightness tapes with ‘rabbit ears’ to achieve necessary passivhaus 0.6ach @ 50Pa.; positioning windows with inflatable air bags; and fixing windows without plugs and with headless screws in order to ensure the windows are not distorted during fixing.
Some of the last but largest Bayer passivhaus windows at the Mayville Community Centre retrofit project will be fitted on Thursday 24th March 2011 at 10am. Bookings must be made in advance as this session will be limited to 20 visitors.
Please note that this is a project on site and subject to all the vagaries of the building process – it might be necessary to change the date and/or time at short notice so please ensure that you provide full contact details when booking and do not turn up without booking in advance.
